The Common Core Math Practices Posters are based on the USA Common Core 8 Mathematical Practices, the language has been adapted to be suitable to lower primary students. These Math practices are useful to all mathematicians (teachers, parents and students) regardless of what age or educational system they are in. The practices help mathematicians of all ages develop a shared language connected to problem solving practices. The resource can be used to guide discussions, provide more direct instructions or prompt thinking with guided questions. The cards can be used as posters or cards for displays or hands on resources.

## COMMON CORE MATH PRACTICES – MIDDLE PRIMARY

The Common Core Math Practices Posters for Middle Primary will support students gaining an understanding of the practices mathematicians use while becoming proficient and effective thinkers who can pose and solve problems.

The Common Core Math Practices Posters are based on the USA Common Core 8 Mathematical Practices, the language has been adapted to be suitable to lower primary students.

There are three versions of each poster. One that is more guided with direct information to aid in prompting or reminding students of available choices. The other is designed with guiding questions for students to have more agency and name the skills and strategies related to practices based on their own prior knowledge. The third version of the poster can be used as an anchor chart or a reflection tool with students and teachers recording ideas directly onto the spaces available.

These Math practices are useful to all mathematicians (teachers, parents and students) regardless of what age or educational system they are in. The practices help mathematicians of all ages develop a shared language connected to problem solving practices.
