POWERFUL PROVOCATIONS: MUSEUMS

Powerful Provocations: Museums: Ideas, examples and background information on planning for, setting up and reflecting on museum provocations.

Museums are great places to trigger interest and spark curiosity, going to a museum or creating a museum in your classroom is great provocation.

Turning your learning space into a museum can be a great way to provoke thinking and curiosity at the start of an inquiry, or it can be used in the middle of an inquiry to reinvigorate thinking and attitudes.

One of the lovely things about using a museum as a provocation is that it can then be turned over to the students to take on the role of curator to modify the museum as the inquiry progresses or to create a whole new museum at the end of a an inquiry as a summative assessment.
